World Kidney Day: strong turnout at the NefroCenter Group’s free screenings

Broad participation by citizens in the free screenings promoted by the NefroCenter healthcare group on the occasion of World Kidney Day, celebrated today, March 12. The initiative, organized across the whole country, involved the group’s dialysis centers in Campania, Lazio and Liguria, the NefroCenter clinics, and an information stand set up at the Frattamaggiore center.
Over the course of the day, a total of more than 300 free kidney screenings were carried out, with checks that included a specialist examination, a urine test and blood pressure measurement.
Strong participation also at the group’s clinics — Casa di Salute Santa Lucia in San Giuseppe Vesuviano, Casa di Cura Ospedale Internazionale in Napoli, Casa di Cura Villa dei Fiori in Mugnano di Napoli, Rome American Hospital and the Casa di Cura Villa Anna Maria in Roma — where the screening also included nutrition consultations and body composition assessments (BIA), as part of a multidisciplinary approach to the prevention of kidney disease.
Prevention is the first and most effective tool for countering the onset and progression of kidney disease. Since many kidney conditions can develop without obvious symptoms in the early stages, promoting simple, accessible and regular checkups means offering people the chance to identify any problems early and to intervene promptly.
Chronic kidney disease is in fact often linked to widespread risk factors such as diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity and cardiovascular disease. Early diagnosis makes it possible to intervene promptly and reduce the risk of more serious complications.
This is the principle on which the commitment of the NefroCenter Group is founded: to spread a culture of prevention, to encourage early diagnosis and to contribute concretely to protecting the kidney health of citizens
