NefroCenter in the Square for a Kidney Prevention Initiative in Gragnano

The free screenings in the city of Gragnano provide a snapshot in line with the data for the province of Napoli on the value of kidney prevention. The day, promoted on Sunday, April 19 by the Nefrocenter Group in collaboration with the nonprofit association I.N.Viaggio, showed that a significant share of the population has risk conditions, with citizens often unaware of them.
About 39% of the people screened showed values consistent with high blood pressure or possible cardiovascular disease, confirming the strong link between heart health and kidney function.
27% of participants, meanwhile, showed overweight or obesity, factors that directly affect metabolism and represent a significant risk factor for the development of chronic diseases, including kidney diseases.
In 7% of cases, indicators compatible with possible chronic kidney disease emerged, a condition that in its early stages can be completely asymptomatic and that, for this very reason, calls for active prevention tools in the community. For the citizens in whom such indicators were found, a pathway of more in-depth checks at specialized centers has already been activated. For them there is a need for an integrated approach among screening, diagnosis and continuity of care.
Overall, therefore, more than 70% of the people assessed had at least one risk factor or clinical abnormality worthy of specialist follow-up.
The data that emerged reinforce the strategic role of prevention: identifying warning signs early makes it possible to intervene promptly, reducing the likelihood of progression to more severe forms of kidney disease. Once again the Nefrocenter Group has made a decisive contribution to prevention in the community, with the collaboration in Gragnano of the nonprofit association I.N.Viaggio.
