In recent decades this discipline has undergone an important evolution, thanks to the development of less invasive techniques, increasingly precise imaging tools and a better understanding of the mechanisms that regulate pain and movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From \u201cnecessary\u201d surgery to \u201ctargeted\u201d surgery<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In the past, surgery was often the only possible response to persistent pain or a neurological deficit. Today the approach has changed. Modern neurosurgery favors an overall evaluation of the patient, in which conservative treatment plays a central role. Surgery is proposed only when there are clear indications, when pain significantly limits daily life or when there is a risk of progressive neurological damage. This change of paradigm has made surgery more selective and, at the same time, more effective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
