RiOSM
The RiOSM Center – Research and Treatment for Obesity and Metabolic Syndrome – stems from the roots of the Nefrocenter Group, active throughout the national territory with solid experience in managing obesity, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, nutritional disorders, and hepatic and renal pathologies.
RiOSM has established itself as a center of excellence for a comprehensive approach to Metabolic Syndrome. It is a health project built by a multidisciplinary team with scientific rigor, listening and attention to patient needs.
Treatment and Research for Metabolic Health
Metabolic health is a key concept that represents the well-being of the balance between blood glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure, hepatic metabolism, and body weight. Maintaining this balance is fundamental to reducing the risk of serious consequences such as diabetes, hypertension, hepatic steatosis, stroke, and heart attack, and to promote healthy aging. RiOSM is committed to countering these risks and researching innovative solutions, offering effective, personalized pathways based on clinical data.
Who it is For
The center is dedicated to people living with overweight or obesity, those presenting signs of Metabolic Syndrome, those in the pre-diabetes phase or suffering from fatty liver (non-alcoholic hepatic steatosis). Those who have multiple cardiovascular risk factors, such as high cholesterol or blood pressure levels, or a family history of these pathologies, can also benefit from the Center’s programs.
From Diagnostic Assessment to Therapeutic Plan
Each RiOSM pathway begins with a multidisciplinary visit, where specialist physicians and nutritionists take the time to gather information about the patient’s clinical history, lifestyle, nutrition, and examinations. Then we proceed with:
- Specific diagnostic examinations (such as metabolic profile, ultrasounds, fibroscan, etc.);
- A personalized therapeutic plan that combines dietary modifications, physical activity and, if necessary, innovative medications;
- Constant monitoring, with scheduled check-ups also remotely: the patient is always followed, monitored and supported.
Therapeutic Innovations: GLP-1, GIP and Bariatric Surgery
Thanks to advances in the pharmaceutical field, RiOSM has access to medications such as GLP-1 RA (for example, Semaglutide) and GIP, which can lead to weight reduction of up to 25%, improving insulin sensitivity and protecting heart health. For cases of severe obesity, where metabolic risks are high, the Center also offers bariatric surgery, with now standardized and safe procedures, such as bypass or sleeve gastrectomy, which rapidly improve metabolic health parameters.
Fatty Liver and Hepatic Health
Often overlooked, fatty liver is a clear signal of metabolic imbalance: in 25-40% of the adult population it can evolve into MASH (steato-hepatitis), increasing the risk of cirrhosis and liver cancer. RiOSM uses non-invasive examinations (such as FIB-4, elastosonography and MRI) to identify potential damage early and direct the patient toward personalized lifestyle and therapy interventions.
The Multidisciplinary Approach Centered on Patient Well-Being
The RiOSM Center is not limited to diagnosis and medications: nutritionists, psychologists, cardiologists, endocrinologists, hepatologists and surgeons collaborate to create pathways that view nutrition, body and mind as an integrated system. Psychological and motivational support is essential to ensure lasting results, while clinical research transforms our patients’ experiences into valuable data to continuously improve protocols.
How to Begin
The first visit includes a medical and nutritional consultation, along with basic examinations by contacting the Santa Rita facility in Atripalda in the province of Avellino and Santa Lucia in San Giuseppe Vesuviano in the province of Naples. From the second visit onward, the patient can choose to follow the specialists’ recommendations in person or through telemedicine, depending on health needs and convenience in travel.
The Tailored and Personalized Pathway
The RiOSM pathway is successful because it adapts to:
- Initial metabolic profile (blood glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure, etc.)
- Hepatic condition
- Weight and body composition
- Personal and family history
- Lifestyle
- Realistic and sustainable goals
Only in this way is it possible to guarantee effective, scientifically sound and truly lasting treatment.
